One was by the Edmonton Journal, a paper that has been very quick to print AUPE's responses and releases.
This one was somewhat better than previous coverage of the topic.
Health-care aide strike continues at co-op
Mediator's proposal to end SAIL dispute rejected as too costly

There is one major error in this piece, and I hope they take the time to correct it.
The strike began May 7 when nearly 30 health-care aides went on strike at SAIL, an apartment co-operative
No. SAIL is not a co-op. SAIL is not an apartment.
They even have the acronym written out in the first sentence; Supports for Artspace Independent Living.
Artspace is the co-op. Artspace is 88 apartment and townhouse units. One of those units, a ground floor apartment with a private entrance, is the SAIL office; the place of employment.
Media, get it right! Sheesh!
There is another part that is less than accurate.
On May 16, the aides decided to suspend their strike but were met with angry residents who locked them out illegally, citing breached trust.
Let's get this part clear.
SAIL users do not have the ability to lock anyone out. What they do have the ability - and right - to do is decide who comes into their homes.
They did not want the striking care workers back in their homes. SAIL, of course, supports the user members, but there was also the problem of the union suddenly saying the striking care workers would be back in the morning, when there were already other staff scheduled - on the eve of a long weekend, no less. New schedules would have needed to be transitioned, and that takes time.
This is what the Labour Relations Board ruled was an illegal lockout which, to me, demonstrates that the Labour Board doesn't understand the unique nature of the in-home care model.
After the last article from the Edmonton Sun, it was great to read this one.
Supports for Artspace Independent Living expected to grind on

Both sides were presented, and he accurately separated SAIL from Artspace! The only possible stickler would be in the list of what care workers did; their job also included housekeeping, laundry and pretty much whatever a user member needed, like assisting with pet care. There's only so much that can be included in such a list, though, so some things are going to get missed.
Kudos to the Sun for getting journalism right this time.
