Security Video Montage, with transcript

This is the security video montage that was used by City TV.  AUPE was shown these clips and asked for a response.  They did not have one.

They also try to dismiss it as being old footage, as if that changes anything.  These were taken at different times throughout the first month and a half of the strike, give or take (We don't have exact dates right now).

Here is the montage again, with a transcript added below.  It's been modified slightly from what was posted on the Youtube channel, for accuracy.

00:00 to 1:00 ---AUPE organizer David Malka brings out an air raid siren. This was used for two days until police finally shut it down. [Still need to confirm exact length of time it was used.]

Security staff is heard talking in the room video is being recorded in.
Female security guard: That's going to be annoying.  That's going to be irritating.
Male security guard: (indistinguishable)
Picketers are seen laughing and encouraging the use of the siren.

00:01:02 –00:01:36 A man who lives at Artspace, who does not use SAIL home care services, approaches Malka to ask him to stop the use of the air raid siren because this man has just brought his child home from the hospital. The two are face to face with one another. Malka is leaning on the air raid siren.  There is overlapping altercations.

Unknown Artspace member(s) calling to picketers: ... we have talked.  You're in front of private homes.  Private homes.  (indistinguishable) Get outta here! (indistinguishable)
Malka: Get a deal. What about these people on the line? Get a deal for these people on the line. Get a deal... get a deal.  You don’t care about these people here on the line?
Man: not really
Malka: Well then why should I care about your son? You don’t care about these people on the line? What about their sons? What about their children? You don’t care about them?
Man...(tries to say something)
Malka: Fuck. Fuck. Buddy. You’re fucked.
(Woman on picket line, off camera): You need to talk to your Board...they’re the ones who...
Unknown Artspace member: ... you don't care about anything ... They're not on the board.
Off frame female picketer: Well, you need to talk to your board, Honey.  They're the ones (indistinguishable)

00:01:37 to 00:02:11 One of the SAIL picketing Home Care Aides is yelling up to a balcony second floor balcony.  And AUPE staffer is beside her.  Off frame, a care worker providing Self Managed Care to an Artspace member (therefore is not a SAIL user member) is being addressed.
SAIL employee: “I’m telling you (unintelligible)....I’m going to take you out. I’m gonna, I’m gonna take you out. (unintelligible).... I don't care (unintelligible)... you told the lady that this is Grace. Your boss gave the names [referring to the Artspace member whose unit she is in?] ... and you told the names ... because it's you ... it's you identified me... . And if something is happening to me it’s YOU . I’m gonna take you out.”

00:02:12--00:04:06  picketers are blocking the van of a woman who lives at Artspace trying enter the above ground parking lot, where she has an assigned, paid parking spot. She is not a SAIL user member.  She has her five year old son in the backseat. The picketers somehow know her name and use it. They also know her boyfriend is a police officer.

Picketer in grey hoody: “We need to have a talk about this.”
Picketer in striped shirt: “Just a thought. She might back up.”
Dave Malka (off camera): “I don’t know why she doesn't back up and go through that curb back there.  That's a really good idea.”

(cut to shot from inside van)

woman in van: “They don’t get to tell me where I get to park.”
Security guard for SAIL: “The thing is there is no protocol. This is a strike site so...”
Woman in van: “I don’t care. This is where I live.”
Security guard: “I do understand that”

(cut to outside the van)

Paid picketer: Tell your children what you are. Mummy’s bad. Mummy’s really bad....what a bad mummy....bad mummy.  Shame, shame on mummy.
Other picketer: ...tries  running people over.
Other picketer: You could have had two broken legs. I think she loves me.
David Malka: Jody . What’s wrong Jody?
Paid picketer: One minute. We’ve only held her for one minute.
Malka: Why do you want to run people over with your vehicle?
Paid picketer: Once your pregnant. Once your pregnant you shouldn't be stressing yourself out. [Note: this member is not pregnant.] As a nurse you should know that. Don’t stress yourself out. You know what I got nice teeth...what about yours? Oh mine are false. Sorry. (laughter) I just don’t like her. Like, I never offended her...don’t offend me.
One of the Picket captains (off camera)...don’t take it personally
Picketer: Oh, I’m not.
Another picketer: You should have a conversation with people instead of just using vulgar language.
Picketer: I hope you’re not in the operating room because you are shaking pretty bad. I wouldn't want you operating on me.
Another picketer: You know how to have a civilized conversation with people or it's just about saying vulgar words to people.
Malka: No, Jody can't be civilized.  Jody is not civilized
Paid picketer: Call the police. Get your boyfriend. That’s ok.

00:04:09 – 00:05:29 (Organizer David Malka is on the megaphone. He is speaking to the replacement workers who are in the SAIL office. He refers by name to a SAIL user.)

Malka: Are you smoking in the office? Don’t smoke in the office.  Please.  Don't smoke in the office.  You know having the window open I can smell the smoke from here. Don’t smoke in the SAIL office. You can go up to room 701. Shauna is there and she doesn’t mind if you use the balcony to smoke. Just give her a little advance notice...maybe even text her. She is working hard on some beading and some other activities for Friends of SNAIL...Friends of SNAIL. Friends of SAIL, it's like a big SNAIL. Oh, you have two security so... I know you’ve smoked out here in the past. It’s ok. You’re really in safe hands. Good looking guys, too. They're not bad to look at. You know, they're really straight upstanding citizens. So don’t be afraid to come out and have a smoke. I think they would enjoy having a smoke with you. I think bumblebee is starting to smoke again, too. That’s not good bumblebee. It’s a bad habit. Don't smoke. Don’t smoke bumblebee. Bad. Bad bumblebee.  Don’t... don't smoke bumbleebee

(Begins speaking to an Artspace member in an upper level unit.)

Malka: Hey, David (unintelligible) it's good to see you out there Dave.  My goodness, you gotta get the recycle bin out there

Note that these are just a few short clips of what was being done on the picket line in the first few weeks.  There are hundreds of hours of security footage alone.

There was a brief respite when a strike protocol was worked out.  AUPE was later able to cancel the protocol.  There is no protocol in place now.
