Then wrote what has got to be the most incredibly misinformed blog post about it that we've seen yet. There are so many things wrong in there, it's left a lot of us speechless.
Some of us are pretty sure this is the same person that got "interviewed" by AUPE's 'man on the street' dude.
In this crazy world where connections are found in the oddest of places, it turns out this blogger is known to one of our supporters. It also turns out it's not that she's badly misinformed, because she has been. From the person who tried to fill her in, it seems she just believes that everything we're saying here is invented as part of a government conspiracy to take down unions.
Which is strange enough on its own, but considering the videos we have of what the picketers are doing here, that would mean that they are part of the plot, including all the AUPE bigwigs that come out and condone it. AUPE executives, part of a government plot to take down all unions! Wouldn't that be one heck of a conspiracy!
One of our admins has already addressed this, in part. We also have this email, from a SAIL user member.
Under the comparison between health care facilities....the information under SAIL is completely WRONG!
1. There are care plans for each user-member, and no SAIL employee can do any service for a member until Homecare has authorised and sent said authorisation to SAIL...and there is a very clear instruction as to what is supposed to be done.
2. Rubber gloves are provided for the HCAs...always!
3. HCA will not do whatever user-member request...in fact in my experience I had trouble getting done what was supposed to be done , by homecare authorisation...because the HCA was too lazy to do it.
4. One HCA deliberately made my home unsafe and left me in a position that would and did injure me by falling.....again because she didn't like the mop I had because she had to bend over.....when I complained...nothing was done to the HCA and I was told to get another mop (like she wanted). Totally unacceptable! and they were never let go even for setting up an unsafe environment!
5. HCAs work within Artspace , that includes the highrise and townhouses.
6. HCAs never worked overtime....they were paid for 8 hours but only worked usually for 4 as the rest was for on-call (as needed services). Good luck getting help most of the time, in my experience.
7. HCAs at Artspace were making $4.00 per hour HIGHER than industry standards for the same job where HCAs would have to go from client to client at their own expense.....not less as they are claiming.
8. Why work here...because where else can they do very little work and get paid as good wage for 8 hours/ and work for 4.....where else could they do an insufficient job for any client and still have a job...
9. Any transfers that had to be done were NEVER done unsafely. The safety of the HCA was and is primary as well as the needs of the user-member.
These striking HCAs are not hard done by , underpaid or overused by user-members.......in fact we, the user-members have put up with sub standard help at times because if we complained it got worse!!!! They certainly did NOT love their jobs and complained constantly...
and the HCAs that have stayed, are the ones who have not gone on to train for higher jobs...the ones who have move on to other positions when their training is done.
They were given RESPECT and they destroyed it....also, RESPECT is earned not gotten by bullying!!!
I don't know where this info this woman got came from, I assume the union since it pretty much goes with everything else they are trying to ply the public with....lies, lies and more lies. There is NO FANTASY for user-members and these workers safety was NOT in jeopardy.
The HCAs decided to strike because the union made promises it can't possibly keep...and if she doesn't believe us, watch the videos......members have been abused, threatened and people have had their lives threatened by these so called endearing HCAs. They set the tone for this, including the lock out, when they stormed our building trying to force their way in.....when they were told it took time to work out schedules, etc. They were NOT coming back to help!
This was never about a wage dispute for the union...but a way to try and take over smaller private, non profit companies for their benefit....we just happen to be who they came after first.
Sorry my email was so long..It just made me so angry to read the b...s.......that they had listed about SAIL...this is a good program, but has been abused by those staff members for way too long...and they think that because they got away with it for so long that they can really stick it to us....I can't believe they are using the immigrant excuse! UGH! anyway sorry for the rant...I just couldn't help it.
