What a fascinating piece of Newspeak. Here are a couple of interesting quotes.
This was a year that saw thousands of our members face some ruthless and unprecedented attacks from the provincial government unlike anything we’ve seen before.Really? That's news to me.
...the PC government led by Alison Redford also unexpectedly introduced anti-union Bills 46 and 45 in November 2013.

Well, of course I then had to go look up the bills to find out what the heck he's talking about.
After reading bill 45, I can see why they would fight against it. It wasn't an "anti-union" bill. It would have protected people from unions - and what they are now doing to us here at Artspace would not have been possible.
AUPE had never faced such a full frontal attack against its members before.
Suddenly, I think I can see where saysandra got her conspiracy theories from. It also explains how SAIL and Artspace members have been accused by AUPE as being "anti-union" and having an "agenda", and those bizarre claims that we are seeking to de-certify and break AUPE.
If this stuff were coming from your average individual, rather than an organization, they'd be dismissed as crackpots and paranoids. Instead, it's coming from AUPE, the wealthiest and most powerful union in the province.
Ah, but Guy has a special mention about SAIL in his otherwise generic diatribe. This one is so special, I'm going to address it point by point.
In closing, I would like us to give thought to some AUPE members who are on a picket line in Edmonton this Labour Day.
Aaaaww... i'n'it sweet. Of all the stuff they've got going on all over the province, Guy wants AUPE members to think about us...
Their employer, SAIL Inc., locked the 30 caregivers out of the workplace on May 19.
Ah, once again, neglecting to mention that THEY WALKED OFF THE JOB on May 7. He's still trying to make it look like SAIL just up and decided to lock them out one day.
This employer is intent on denying these workers a fair collective agreement
Really? SAIL is "intent" on "denying" them an agreement? What rot.
It does speak, once again, to the air of paranoia. Omnipotence, even. Guy Smith seems to think he knows the "intent" of the SAIL board. All part of those government conspiracies, are they, Guy?
and proper working conditions.
Wait. What? Where did this come from? Who's trying to deny anyone "proper working conditions"? What does that even mean? The staff spent significant amounts of their time sitting around in the SAIL office. I've never been in it, but I do know they've got couches and a TV. They've got a full kitchen. Outside of that, they were in the home units of user members. Are they suggesting there was something wrong with people's homes? Or is this another reference to their moaning about user members asking them to do actual work - and do it well?
Please take time to visit them on the picket line (location and times on AUPE’s website, www.aupe.org) or send them a message of support.
I am happy to say that this didn't happen - the visiting part, anyhow; wouldn't know about any messages. Thankfully, it seems others in AUPE are more willing to respect our private homes, even if their executive and the picketers treat our home as their own personal playground, to use and abuse as they see fit.
In just a few sentences, Guy has managed to add a couple more things to the list of accusations AUPE has made against SAIL. Let's see if I can remember them all; I'll even include some related threats their fake-lawyer made (oh, yeah; AUPE may be officially refusing to confirm that their "avocat" scammed money from his clients back in Quebec, but it's been confirmed by several other sources).
- racist
- sexist
- anti-immigrant
- oppressive
- abusive
- bullying
- anti-union
- "bad faith" bargainers
- deniers of collective agreements
- frauds
- embezzlers
- all Arstpace members have been accused of being part of SAIL's supposed fraud
- all Artspace members have been threatened with having their bank records subpoenaed
- all Artspace members have been threatened to have their phones and video recording subpoenaed
- all Arstpace members have been threatened with being called before the labour board, which they seem to be treating as their own, personal kangaroo court.
- and now we can add deniers of proper working conditions to the list.
I'm pretty sure I've forgotten quite a few things. Readers, feel free to add them to the comments, if you can think of something.
Oh, about the comments. Yes, they are moderated, and no anonymous comments allowed. It might take us a while to approve them, so they might not show up right away. We welcome all points of view, but if anyone tries to pull an Avocatzo on us, know that it will likely end up with it's own post, with all the mockery it deserves. We don't fee trolls. We expose them for what they are.
update: Forgot to include these on the list. According to AUPE, SAIL is;
- trying to de-certify the union
- trying to break the union.
